BLOG-SPIRATION

BLOGGING AND THE PHENOMENON THAT HAS CHANGED THE ONLINE COMMUNITY

Blogspot, Wordpress, Tumblr, they are all online media outlets that let us create and expand our creative juices and let them flow.

"Thousands have found a voice on the net. From the mundane to the thrilling, the blogging phenomenon has produced some of today's most innovative and engaging writing" (New Kids on the Blog, 2004).

Bloglovin' a site that encaptures the blogosphere of blogs and all of their categories, where an online phenomenon  is quietly taking place. An outlet for writing, for opinions, for style, fashion and photography the choices of what to blog about are endless and people do follow you. You do get an audience.

Jorn Barger first used the term "weblog" on his own website Robot Wisdom in 1997. The term is now used to describe personal websites that offer "frequently updated observations, news, headlines, commentary, recommended links and/or diary entries, generally organised chronologically" (Werbach 2001).

Werbach (2001) further extends that although many websites are frequently updated, "what makes a Weblog a Weblog is that it is organised chronogially and designed for short, frequent updates. In other words, Weblogs represent the online intersection of people and time". This is essentially the difference between a blog and a website page.

TV, radio, newspapes and online news are all a form of news being published for an audience, just as is a weblog. However there are no limits to the creative element of a weblog it is entirely personal to the creator, whether it is for personal use or professional use - It is one huge advantage to the strict outlines of other news forums. A disadvantage is any one can have a blog, information being published on the internet therefore becomes less reliable than ever. Also, anything can be written on a blog, abuse, opinion and infringement and copyright issues.
